Castle Christmas is coming to King John’s Castle

This Christmas, King John’s Castle is getting a festive transformation.

From 21 November to 23 December 2026, families are invited to step inside the castle for Castle Christmas, a brand-new immersive Christmas experience bringing festive characters, storytelling, Santa and a Teddy Bear Workshop to one of Limerick’s most iconic landmarks.

Set within the medieval walls of King John’s Castle, Castle Christmas is designed to be more than a traditional Santa visit. Families become part of the story as they journey through the castle, meeting festive characters and taking part in activities along the way.

Step inside the Christmas story

Your Castle Christmas adventure begins with a warm welcome. Each family receives Christmas hats, name badges and a map to help guide them through the experience.

From there, you’ll explore the castle and encounter a cast of festive characters, with different spaces transformed into immersive Christmas environments.

The experience lasts approximately 75 minutes, giving families time to explore, meet the characters and enjoy the different activities without feeling rushed.

And, of course, there’s a very special visitor waiting at the end of the journey.

Meet Santa at King John’s Castle

The Castle Christmas adventure builds towards a magical meeting with Santa Claus.

Santa will have something special to say to each child, giving them the chance to tell him their Christmas wishes before receiving a Christmas gift.
