New for Summer 2021: Medieval Courtyard Games
King John's Castle are delighted to announce the launch of new series of Medieval games just in time for Summer 2021.
Included in your ticket price, these games are suitable for all ages and are guaranteed to bring out your inner competitive streak! Based on games that would have been enjoyed on fair days during Medieval times, these games are set to bring the courtyard of King John’s Castle to life this summer.
Hand crafted by our maintenance team these new additions to the courtyard offer the perfect option for a day out in the castle for visitors and locals alike.

- Archery (May to Sept)
- Quoits (Ring Toss)
- Medieval Noughts and Crosses

- Horseshoe Throwing
- Storytelling with the Castle Characters and more to be added!
King John's Castle Abseil Experience
For those of you seeking an adrenaline rush, why not relish the opportunity to take in stunning views of Limerick City in the most exciting way, by abseiling down the historic walls of King John’s Castle.
The Team at King John’s Castle have partnered up with Nevsail Watersports to bring this exhilarating experience to life. Available on selected dates throughout June, July and August, take in the sheer beauty and scale of Limerick City’s most iconic building in the most exciting way possible.
The King John’s Castle Abseil Experience is priced at €30 per person and also includes full access to the castle’s interactive exhibition and the opporunity to enjoy our new series of courtyard games outlined above.
