Iconic alternative rock band Pixies are set to make their Limerick debut with a special outdoor performance at King John’s Castle on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
This Halloween, a giant of legend will rise in the heart of Limerick. From Saturday, October 18th to Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, King John’s Castle will play host for Con Mór, The Giant, in a bespoke Halloween experience unlike any other in Ireland.
Con Mór is no ordinary giant—he comes from the mythical Island of Giants off the coast of Connaught. Famous across Ireland for his deep love of birds and the natural world, his friends fondly called him “The Bird King.” His story is steeped in Irish mythology, as he is said to belong to the legendary Tuatha Dé Danann, the mystical tribe of ancient gods and heroes.
During the festival dates, families and visitors can explore King John’s Castle courtyard and see Con Mór up close in all his towering glory. But the true magic happens on select evenings—October 18th, 19th, 26th, and November 1st & 2nd—when Con Mór will come alive with sound, light, and smoke, bringing a breathtaking spectacle to life against the medieval backdrop of the castle.
Children are invited to take part in a special interactive moment—bringing along their “feather of hope” to gift to Con Mór. With enough feathers, he just might get his wings and fly back to his ancient home. It’s a creative and meaningful way for little ones to connect with the story while adding their own magic to the Halloween adventure.
